A Big 'Thank you' To The Lancashire Lieutenancy

A big thank you to Lancashire Lieutenancy for the generous grant of £5,000 from the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund, this will go towards the cost of our roof repairs at the Old Grammar School which is a grade 2* listed building and very fragile being over 400 years old.

The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund is a registered charity which was set up in 1993, with the consent of the late Queen Elizabeth II, to support local worthwhile causes and community initiatives.

We are working towards raising £40,000 to carry out the repairs to the roof, to replace the slates that have slipped and renew the under lining. We hope to complete the work in the Autumn 2026.

We have raised just short of £30,000 already from other grants including £2,000 from Earby Clarets and have a few more in the pipe line. Plus all the money raised through our cafe and shop, the local support is wonderful and much appreciated, we can't thank you all enough. While we are saving up unfortunately we have not been able to give out our usual "Christmas Cheer" grants to local schools and groups, in previous years we have given out £10,000, however we are still giving out the £200 grants upon application to any local non profit group or school for anything linked to education, see the grants page on our website for further information here.

Thank you all for your support and interest in us and the Old Grammar School, the school belongs to the local community and all the monies raised go either back into the community or to keep this beautiful fragile old building in good order. We could not do it without your help.

Kind regards

The trustees and volunteers of the Robert Windle Foundation
